Questions I hear all the time

I have worked with many people with various conditions. What is a common with everyone is our capacity to change through engaged learning that comes from moving with attention, awareness, imagination, slowing down, using less force, increasing variability in action, flexible goals, and authentic enthusiasm for ease and comfort making our movement easier.

Yes! I’m constantly able to take in new clients as people progress and improve, getting out of pain or learning new skills. At some points in the year I’m busier so it may be harder to get an appointment in a timely manner, but mostly I try to accommodate everyone within a timely manner. A doctor referral is only required if your insurance company requires it to insure you. I don’t require one.

Yes, NeuroMovement® falls under Naturotherapy and are covered by Blue Cross, Manulife and others. At the present time Canada Life doesn’t cover movement lessons.

Some modalities are very complimentary such as sound therapy, bioflex laser treatments, osteopathy, massage therapy and acupuncture. I usually suggest that if clients are doing an intensive physiotherapy or occupational therapy regime that they suspend that for a few weeks to better perceive the differences and the outcomes between the two modalities. I have found that some clients are doing too much and find it hard to distinguish what is actually working for them. By taking a break from one or the other it allows for better distinctions of outcomes. I don’t discourage anyone from doing physio while getting NeuroMovement lessons. In some rare cases when the client has spasticity, such as Cerebral Palsy diagnosis or post stroke, I suggest stopping all modalities that requires using force and effort – further increasing their limitations, until they can begin to restore function, balance and stability before returning to a more demanding therapy such as physiotherapy.

Please bring comfortable clothing that’s non restrictive that you can move easily in, such as loose fitting pants. Please do not wear skirts to lessons as we will often be moving legs and skirts are restrictive for full range of motion. I suggest you bring layers so that you can adjust if too hot or too cold.

Parents please bring anything that will make your child feel more comfortable during the lessons, favourite toys, books, blankets, bottle etc. Some children get very hungry during the lessons so having a snack and a drink is a good idea. It’s best to dress your child in clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in.

You can book an Initial Assessment and Movement Lesson directly online >. At that time we can discuss goals and get a sense of how many lessons to plan for. If you are not in pain I suggest starting with online classes > and then only booking an in person lesson if you are having difficultly with certain movements.

Yes! Along with my full time practice, I continue to produce online lessons. I also have completed my first novel and have ideas for more. When I’m not writing and teaching lessons, I’m a fairly active day trader for an hour a day during the NY open and I love to travel, so I’m likely planning my next adventure between all of the above. 🤩 And of course, every now and then I create artwork, mostly paintings, some of my portfolio I’ve created over the years is online here >.
